INTRODUCTION Conscientization is the process by which one develops the ability to think critically about issues of power in relationship to privilege and oppression in different spheres of influence(local,national,international).It is derived from a portugese word which means critical consciousness.It focuses on achieving an indepth understanding of the world, allowing for the perception and exposure of social and political contradictions. It alsoincludes taking action against the oppressive elements in one's life that are illuminated by that understanding.
